According to the International Volleyball Federation, volleyball is the second most popular team sport in the USA, so there’s no doubt that fans have been filling the bleachers at Coral Gables Cavaliers boys’ volleyball games.

Track Team gets freshmen involved

 “Pain is temporary, but glory lasts forever” is a motto that seems to fit the track team at Coral Gables Senior High this year like a well-worked pair of cleats. Although many students have been part of this team for several years, this is a new experience for the freshmen recruits that are new to the environment and eager to engulf themselves in it.

It’s game day and while standing outside the gym, munching on a bag of cookies, Andre listens as his team mates take turns commenting his work ethic, skills, and even his sex appeal.

“He’s just a great dude. He’s smart, athletic, always shows good character on the field. And he’s sexy,” Jimmy Ware, #21, senior, said.

 


SPOTLIGHT: Chris Otero

If asked to describe junior Christopher Otero on appearance alone, his sleek blonde hair and Converse sneakers may cause the term “laid back” to spring to mind. And he it is accurate.

“I don’t get angry easily; I just put stupid, little none-important things to the side,” Otero said.

“FOOOOORE!” shouts Andrea Whittle as she scores under par at golf match. You may recognize Whittle from ‘Gables Live’, the morning news broadcast, as one of the hard-hitting anchors. News is not Whittle’s only forte, she’s also a part of the school’s prestigious girls’ golf team.
