The United States has seen first hand how racism can contribute to creating an explosive society. Not only can racism be found here in our nation, but in other nations as well, such as China, India, Iran, and Israel. Although many may choose to remain oblivious, racism is in plain sight everywhere.

Since the 1980’s when the first video games were released, there have been two different types of gamers: those who play video games for entertainment, recreational gamers, and the elite gamers, those who dedicate several hours a week to their craft. With the growing popularity of video games in our society, it is not surprising to see the thousands of people who have turned it into a profession. Despite the different levels of gamers, there is a universal agreement that video games are a way to escape from daily life into a world that they would not otherwise be able to experience. It is also very surprising to see how well the video game business has been able to prosper in today’s economic situation.

The crash of the economy has affected everyone, especially teenagers. Many teens are used to having their parents shell out cash whenever they want to go out and have fun. Many are used to borrowing their parents’ cars, or even having one of their own. Now teens are beginning to realize this free ride has come to a tragic end. Everyone is beginning to feel the effects of our economic crisis, not only in the price of gas, but in everything else we consume, like food and clothing.

Just when you think that the uniform policy could not get anymore strict you would be mistaken. Starting in October the uniform policy will now include school colored sweaters as mandatory. Needless to say, the Media Center has already been implementing the rule, turning away all students who are not abiding to the newly updated uniform policy. So you might be asking yourself what colors are still allowed.

Lunch prices have changed eating habits. Students have been starting to make a couple of changes in their everyday lives, and for some, that includes getting their lunch through different means. Rather than buying the usual pizza, subs, or Gatorade, many students have started packing their lunches. “I use to buy more pizza but now my mom packs me lunch. It’s just easier and cheaper,” said sophomore Alina Baez.
